But guess what? You do not have a trash can in your car.

Where will you dispose of the litter? In your car? Littering your car with empty cans, bottles, food wrappers, pieces of used tissue paper, and other thing seems unharming, but unfortunately, it can kill you.

Now you must wonder how an empty can or bottle can kill you. Let me share an incident; all this started at a school parking when one of my friends went back home after attending the parent’s teacher meeting for her 14-year-old boy in the school.

She tried to get back from its space, but some trash was also involved. Let me tell you one thing she has a great mountain of debris in her car.

She never disposed of the litter and had a trash can in her car.

As she backed her car, a piece of litter froze the car’s accelerator, and she continued returning at maximum speed. Before hitting a pole, she backed over a curb and went through a busy route.

The situation could be quite different, and she could return home safely if she kept her car clean and tidy. I am sure you know why it is essential to manage your car trash.

Why Should I Have Car Trash Cans?

DIY Car Trash Can

No one feels good when a car’s backseat is filled with stains and trash. Smell, colors, and small litter can turn your happy mood into anger.

Did you get why I should have car trash cans? Car trash cans assist you in making your car’s backseat trash-free.

A trash-free car is essential when you drive your car professionally or hang out with someone. It will be easier to clean your car over the weekend if all trash in your vehicle is organized in one location.

In your search for an empty water bottle that rolls along the backseat, you won’t have to bend over or move around the seats.

These trash bags also reduces the possibility of perishable food waste ending up in a car corner and stinking up the interior overnight.

Now you must know all the benefits of a car trash can. Let’s scroll down to make its use better.

Goodbye to perishable waste

Remember how perishable waste can stink up your car overnight? This stinking up will occur even if it is in the trash can. As a result, the best course of action is to dispose of such waste as soon as possible.

Keep a separate trash bag for rotatable items and empty it whenever you stop your vehicle.

Keep extra trash cans.

Consider purchasing some extras while we’re on the subject of separate trash bags. When buying trash bags in bulk, you can save money.

For a perfect fit, make sure the bag’s capacity matches the capacity of your car’s receptacle. The power will be expressed in gallons.

Easy to keep your car clean

You’ll need a place to keep your extra trash bags. Choose car trash cans that include a different set of pockets. You can also store tissues in these mesh pockets for easy access.

Consider getting an anti-leak and waterproof trash can if you frequently dispose of some not-so-empty coffee cups in your car.

Such containers will prevent the last drops of coffee from seeping through the trash can and leaving a pungent odor.

  • A quarter yard of fabric
  • A quarter yard of the thick canvas (you can also use duck cloth)
  • Pins

Let’s start making our travel trash bags.

  • Cut your main fabric and thick canvas to size 9*13 inches.
  • Cut a piece to size 3*13 inches for the strap.
  • Cut your leftover canvas fabric into two pieces of 9.”
  • Start sewing the long sides of your 9*13 inches fabric pieces from the right side to a matching piece with half-inch seams allowance. In this way, you will have two tubes.
  • Iron your seam after opening it. Move the external fabric right side out around the canvas fabric. Turn the edges one inch and iron your fabric.
  • To make the strap, fold the strapping piece in half lengthwise and stitch one long and one short edge. Iron the right side out.
  • Tuck its unfinished edge at one of the seams between the folded sides of your constructed tubes.
  • Sew around the top edge of the tube, catching the strap. You should now have one completed line with rough edges at the bottom. Set that aside for now.
  • Sew the long edges of the 9X17 inch pieces with a 3/4 inch seam allowance.
  • Fold the top edge under in 1/2 inch increments until it’s roughly the same size as the other piece you produced. (It simply has to be shorter to sit within without revealing).
  • Tuck the first tube (double layer/outside) piece inside the box you just constructed, with the first tube (double layer/outside) piece turned the wrong side out (so the lovely details are on the inside facing each other).
  • Sew around the bottom, capturing all six layers.
  • Turn the right side out, and you’re done.

Adjust the strap with a pin to the proper length to fit over your gear shifter, and tuck a doggie litter bag around the edges.
